9/11 Attack - Social Studies

What am I learning?
In Social Studies we were given a task to search up a human disaster in a partner or by yourself. I and Alliah decided to do the 9/11 September attack that happened in New York, USA.

How does this show my learning?
Because everything that I have learnt from books and websites is in
this short slide explaining what happened briefly and other questions.

Investigating State Changes

Aim:
To observe water as it changes state from solid to liquid and then back to gas.

Equipment:

A 250 mL beaker, Thermometer, Bunsen Burner, Heatproof Mat, Tripod and Gauze Mat, Stopwatch, Retort Stand and Clamp & Ice Cubes.

Method:
1. Collect enough ice so that your beaker is half full and place the thermometer into it while you set up the rest of the equipment.

2. Set up the retort stand and clamp alongside the tripod and gauze mat.

3. Place the beaker of the ice on the gauze mat and gently clamp the thermometer so that it is held upright and the scale is easy to see. The bottom of your thermometer should be low enough to still be covered by the warm water when the ice melts, but not touching the bottom of the beaker.
4. Record the initial temperature of the ice in a data table.

5. Light the bunsen burner and start timing with the stopwatch.

6. Measure and record the temperature every minute.

7. Continue measuring and recording the temperature until the water has been boiling for 2-3 minutes.

Results:
Time (min)    temp
0                     11
1                     19
2                     22
3                     25              ---------
4                     43
5                     61
6                     79
7                     96
7.30               103

Discussion:

We set up our equipment and lit our bunsen burner and recorded the amount it reached on the thermometer every minute. In the beaker, we put just a little amount of water so it wouldn't break as soon as we turned the gas on. Soon the ice began to melt by the time it got to the 4-minute mark.
Afterwards, the liquid evaporated into a gas by the 7-minute mark. The graph above shows the results.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, this experiment was about viewing how a solid turns into liquid and then into a gas. Our experiment worked out well & we got to see how this process works in action. Seeing this experiment explains the process more and is easier to understand.

Music - 13th Friday - Reflection !

Reflective Blog Post:

Image result for musicalsWhat have I learned?
I learned how to sing with a big audience and
how to project my voice to the audience evenly.

How does this work show my learning?
The performance shows my learning because what we learned in
Image result for musicalsrehearsal we showed on the stage and I learned new musicals.

What did I find challenging?
Something I found challenging was standing in front of
the audience and trying to project my voice loud enough.

What would I do differently if I did this again?
Image result for musicalsI would pay attention to the teacher so if we were to do this again we would
be able to dance and sing to make the performance more interesting.

What did I enjoy?
I enjoyed learning about different musicals and
doing little projects along the way.

What am I wondering?
I am wondering if I were to do this again
what song would I sing too?

What was it like performing on the day?
It was not as scary as I thought to perform in front of that many people.
It was actually alright and everyone performances were so good.

ACT 3 SCENE 3 - Merchant Of Venice - Shakespeare / English

Act 3 Scene 3 - Shakespeare.

Antonio is now convinced that he knows the reason for Shylock’s insistence on claiming his bond. What is it, use a quote from the text to support your answer.
Because Antonio has hurt Shylock and called him names and he has supplied money to people that owe shylock money and shylock believes Antonio has something to do with Jessica running away so shylock is obsessed with revenge.

Why can the Duke not ‘deny the course of law’ according to Antonio?
He can't bend the rules for Antonio because if he bends the rule for 1 person he will have to do it to the others meaning fights and riots.

What does Antonio seem resigned to his fate? What two important realizations is this based on? Use lines 8, 21-24, 26-31 to help you.
Antonio can't do much about it because he would be bending the law which will result in damage to the Venice economy.

Do you think Antonio’s feelings towards Bassanio have changed since the beginning, why?
Yes, a little because at first Antonio was sure that he will be able to pay the money back and

Shylock refuses to consider the idea of Mercy but demands Justice. Consider the following ideas:
Is mercy the same as forgiveness? No, because mercy means letting someone live and forgiveness is forgiving.
Is it easier to show mercy or look for revenge? In shylocks case, it's easier to show revenge because he has been not treated the same as others / bullied.

Is justice the same as fairness?
No, because justice means giving them what they deserve and fairness is equity.
Is true justice possible in this case?

Depends on your meaning of Justice because people have different meanings.
