Hands on fire with Mr Naylor

Aim:
To learn how to be safe in the science lab by doing the hands on fire experiment!


Equipment:
  • Safety glasses
  • Tap Water
  • Dish washing Liquid
  • Gas from the Bunsen burner
  • Hair tie (if you have long hair)
  • Lighter


Method:
  1. Tie your hair back and tuck it in your collar.
  2. Put safety glasses on so you don’t get burnt.
  3. Make bubbles with the dish-washing liquid with the gas from the Bunsen burner.
  4. Then you wet your hands all the way to your elbow so your hands don’t catch on fire.
  5. Scoop the bubbles.
  6. Hold the bubbles away from you (Straighten your elbow)
  7. Then ask someone to light the lighter underneath your hands.
