Science Experiment - Saturation.

Aim:
To form a crystal from a supersaturated solution.

Equipment:
Test Tubes, Bunsen Burner, Heat Mat & Test Tube Tongs.

Method:
  1. Gently heat the test tube until it becomes liquid.
  2. Place in test tube rack for 30 minutes.
  3. Wait for the magic ingredient.

Results & Discussion:
When we started boiling the crystal on top of the bunsen burner it slowly turned into a liquid. Until we left it to long on the bunsen burner and it exploded, a drop came on my hand and it turned into a solid again. Then we waited for 10 minutes for it to cool down. After waiting we added a tiny amount of the powder and slowly it went back to the solid we saw at first.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, we are turning solids into liquids and then back to a solid. This experiment explains a lot about heat packs and ice packs and how they form by just breaking them in half.
