Philosophical Views Of The Self
https://www.greekboston.com/culture/ancient-history/know-socrates/ What Do You Think Of When You Think Of 'The Self'? What Does That Even Mean? When I think of 'The Self' I think of something that makes you, you. Whether it is your body or your consciousness "the self" is what makes you unique from everybody else such as your morals, ethics and experiences. I think the self means what defines you as a person involving your consciousness and physical appearance which are both apart of your identity. Socrates is a famous philosopher who has his own theory of 'the self'. He thinks that 'the self' involves our souls, not our reputation, what we own and not even our own body but just our souls. I do agree with this theory as the idea of the self is based on our souls rather than the materialistic things that we own. Since it is important to have a pure and good soul to be identified with rather than our reputation or what we own. |
