"Anyone can be anything" -Judy Hopps. In the film Zootopia directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, this inspirational quote is said by Judy Hopps. A bunny who really believes in this quote. An important idea in Zootopia is determination. This idea was shown during the play, police trails and the final speech.
The idea of determination was shown at the beginning of the film when Judy was performing in the play. The play talks about the history of Zootopia and the modernized Zootopia. Currently, in Zootopia children can be anything they want to be, but in Judy's case, her parents restrict her to certain careers. Judy's parents think stereotypically, bunnies can't be police officers they're not predators. Her parent's quote "It's going to be impossible for you to become a police officer". She replies back with "I'll guess I'll be the first one". Judy is determined to become a police officer. This makes the audience believe if you're truly passionate about something, you can do it, no matter what others say.
The second idea of determination was shown during the second half of the movie when Judy enters the police academy to become a police officer. The academy is primarily predators and she's the only diminutive mammal. When Judy joins the police academy she is very weak and unfit. This makes it very challenging for her to complete the obstacles. She would always finish last. We hear that the instructor yells many names at Judy such as "Fluff butt, bunny pumpkin and carrot face" which would often put her down. Knowing Judy she persevered through the situation by studying and training to improve her results. She was determined to prove to her parents that she can become a police officer and she succeeded. I think this helps the audience realize that anyone can be anything!
Another scene where the idea determination was shown was near the end of the film. Where Judy recites her inspirational speech about how every animal (no matter what their background) should be able to dream and make that dream come true. In the end, she rewards Nick with a police badge. Judy is determined to make everyone in Zootopia embrace their differences and live peacefully without any judgement. She is also determined for the residents of Zootopia to get to know one another before making assumptions. Judy quotes "The more we get to understand one another the more exceptional we will be". The director wanted us to understand that if we truly get to understand people who are different from you the more exceptional we will be, just as Judy said.
To conclude an important idea in the film Zootopia is determination. This is shown when Judy performs in the play, police trails and her final speech at the end of the film. She was very determined at those scenes and persevered on. Determination is very important as it helps to increase your chance of being successful, as we can see in Judy's case. Because Judy was determined she was victorious in achieving her goal. Zootopia helped the audience understand that being determined will keep you motivated and help you achieve your goal.
