In Social Studies we have been learning about Ta Moko and its importance in the Maori Culture. This is an example of one I illustrated of a female Ta Moko. >
Explain What I Have Learnt About Ta Moko?
- Before receiving the Ta Moko the person would have to fast.
- The Maori men were only allowed to undergo their first tattoo upon approaching adolescence.
- Ancestry is shown on each side of the face.
- Only very significant situations in a person's life allowed for additions to be made to their original Moko.
- The left side commonly symbolized the farther side and the right side indicated the mother side.
What Does My Design Mean?
The design I drew designates a female and females are only entitled to wear their Moko under the chin and around their eyebrows.
