Aim:
To learn how to be safe in the science lab by doing the hands on fire experiment!
Equipment:
- Safety glasses
- Tap Water
- Dish washing Liquid
- Gas from the Bunsen burner
- Hair tie (if you have long hair)
- Lighter
Method:
- Tie your hair back and tuck it in your collar.
- Put safety glasses on so you don’t get burnt.
- Make bubbles with the dish-washing liquid with the gas from the Bunsen burner.
- Then you wet your hands all the way to your elbow so your hands don’t catch on fire.
- Scoop the bubbles.
- Hold the bubbles away from you (Straighten your elbow)
- Then ask someone to light the lighter underneath your hands.
