What was Summer's initial reaction to August's face? Why did they become friends?
Summer original reaction was the same as the other students in August's class, " Woah what's up with his face". She became friends because she wanted to or either she felt bad for him.
Summer isn't in the popular group at school, why is she invited to Savanna's party?
They invited her to find out why she is hanging out with the zombie kid so much ( August ).
They were smart and hid it by saying Julian liked her.
How does Summer foster a relationship with Auggie, in what ways is it beneficial for them both?
Summer became friends with August because she wanted to but, it benefited both of them. August got a lot of judgment for being abnormal and summer felt sorry for him and they became friends. Summer realizes August is not as bad as he looks and they just make him sound scary and freaky. This is beneficial for both of them because they both get to know each other so well and come to be great friends.
Part 4 starts with the quote "Now here is my secret. It is very simple. It is only with one's heart that one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye." What does it mean?
This quote means what on the outside is important, but not as important as what's on the inside. In-depth if you want to find out what on the inside use your emotions.
What was Jack's initial reaction to Mr. Tushman's request to show August around school? What made Jack decide to say 'yes' to Mr. Tushman’s request? Jack was hesitant to give Auggie a tour around the school because Jack knew him and Jack knew how he looked. He went because he felt sorry for him after Jack's sibling ran away from him.
Friendship can be difficult. How does Jack feel about him and August becoming Ex-friends? How does he feel when he finds out why?
Without a doubt, I think Jack feels bad because August and Jack were actually really good friends and they had the same interests and would get along just fine. Personally, Jack tries to ignore the feelings for August and move on but I think he still wants to be friends with August.
How was Jack provoked to punch Julian in the face? Explain why you think this was the right/wrong thing to do?
What provoked him to punch Julian was him saying stuff about his disease, that he has no friends and what Julian would do if he looked like August. I think Jack had enough and cared that much about August that he punched him in the face.
How did reading Jack's point of view change your perception of his character?
While I was reading Jack's point of view I saw that Jack would do anything to be popular but as I got in depth I saw that he was really wanting to be friends with August and that even though they weren't talking Jack was still missing August as a friend. So yes it did change my perception.
Predict how you think Auggie will react to the news that Jack punched Julian. What effect will it have own their friendship?
I think August will be shocked by this situation because at that time Jack and August weren't friends. Hearing this August will be shocked and satisfied because I know August hates Julian. This is a good effect on their relationship because August will realize that Jack might not be as bad as he thinks and they probably will become friends again.
